If you visit Amsterdam, you will know there is a coffeeshop culture. Where you pick up your green and can either go about your day or sit-in and have a cup of coffee, tea or soda. Unfortunately, as a woman, you also find dark lighting, black walls, and men in every corner. Scroll through Reddit and you can find many stories asking for women-based coffeeshops because the vibes were off once you enter, get stared at for having women's body parts, and end up uncomfortable. It can be just as defeating as the weight section at the gym.
Here is a comprehensive list of my favourite female-friendly coffeeshops and a few honourable mentions where you can pick-up quality 420 friendly-herbs:
Prix D’ami
This is one of those coffeeshops for the Barbie vibe. Everything is pink! Located in Haringpakkerssteeg, Amsterdam is a great first timer coffeeshop. Although, the lighting is quite dark, there are multiple floors and seating is super comfy with window views of the Amsterdam streets and passerbyers below.
The staff is mostly men to buy green, but once you go upstairs women are serving drinks. Again, this isn’t the best arrangement for the staff and can come off sexist towards canna girls, but the vibe is worth one visit to experience this coffeeshop. The broccoli is also very reasonably priced, great quality and options change seasonally.
La Tertulia
Of all the coffeeshops that exist, the lighting and instagrammable vibe this coffeeshop holds is unbeatable. The green is on the expensive side, but is great quality. The coffeeshop goes for more original strains rather than hybridised strains. The quality of the drink choices is perfect for your everyday vegan, vegetarian, or health conscious person.
The layout and seating of this coffeeshop is very unique. There are two levels that you can clearly see from the entrance, similar to a loft. The walls are a bright white and they have greenery and plants all over bringing a unique freshness. This coffeeshop hires females as well and is known as a girly coffeeshop citty-wide.
The Otherside
Calling all readers and writers, Coffeeshop the Otherside, located in Reguliersdwarssttraat, Amsterdam has the perfect book nook and writer’s corner type of energy. It is a smaller sized coffeeshop, but the seating looks out onto the busy Amsterdam street with the Flower Market next door.
The lighting is bright and inviting for women. This shop is very Instagram friendly and is definitely set apart from the look of most other coffeeshops. Rain or shine, the shop is always warm and cosy with elevated strains to choose from on the menu. The price for quality is unmatched at this shop. We are talking about affordable Cali in the centre of Amsterdam.
Siberie
We have saved the best for last with Coffeeshop Siberïe in Brouwersgracht, Amsterdam. The first thing one notices are the bright lighting, comfy seating and a woman handing you your green. This coffeeshop is family owned and they employ a diverse staff while also proudly representing the LGBTQ+ flag outside their doors.
The vibe is calm with mellow music and if you ask your budtender for the game boards, they have a large variety. You can play scrabble, order your green or a loose leaf brewed tea while having a beautiful view of the canals from the large french style doors that stay open in the warm summer months. The menu offers a range of strains at a very affordable price range making this coffeeshop a perfect gamer vibe.
Honourable Mentions for Pick-Ups
Yin Yang
This is a pick-up only coffeeshop, but it gains its honourable mention for always having amazing strains seasonally. The customer service is always with a smile at this coffeeshop. This shop is off the beaten path and worth the detour from Westerpark to grab some quality pre-rolls for your park visit.
Central Coffeeshop
This is also a pick-up only coffeeshop and is a part of our honourable mentions for its extremely convenient location, amazing always changing choices of strain and its customer service. Everyone who works there is outgoing and personality filled, you’ll leave with memories.
